Buy an eSIM for International Travel

Choose your destination, check the current per-GB rate and set up one travel eSIM before you fly. Rivio uses an in-app purchase flow: download the official iOS or Android app, add balance and then install the eSIM there. There is no web checkout on this page.

What to know before you get a travel eSIM

Unlocked, compatible phone

Your device must support eSIM and accept SIM profiles from another provider. Check the compatible device list first.

Data-only service

Rivio supplies mobile data, not a new phone number, cellular calls or SMS. Calling apps work over the data connection.

Keep your primary number

A dual-SIM phone can keep your regular line active. Calls and SMS on that line remain subject to your home carrier's roaming terms.

Balance, not a timed bundle

Data use is deducted from prepaid balance at the destination rate. Unused balance remains for a later supported trip.

How to buy and set up your Rivio eSIM

The website helps you research destinations and pricing. The official app handles account creation, balance payments, top-ups and eSIM installation.

  1. 1

    Check your phone

Confirm that the device supports eSIM and is carrier-unlocked. If you are unsure, start with the compatible-devices list before adding balance.

  2. 2

    Download the official app

Open Rivio on the App Store or Google Play and create your account. Plan selection, payment and balance management happen inside the app—not in a browser checkout.

  3. 3

    Add balance and install

Choose one of the balance amounts shown in the app, confirm the final charge and then follow the eSIM installation instructions over reliable Wi-Fi.

  4. 4

    Choose Rivio for data

On arrival, select Rivio as the cellular-data line and enable data roaming for Rivio. Leave data roaming off on your primary SIM to reduce the risk of carrier data charges.

For step-by-step screens, follow the activation guide or visit the help center.

Check these six details before you pay

Most avoidable eSIM problems come from device locks, installing too late or letting the primary SIM handle data. A two-minute check now makes arrival setup much simpler.

How much travel data should you plan for?

Start with how you use your phone, not with the biggest number on a package. These seven-day ranges are budgeting examples; streaming quality, automatic backups and hotspot use can move you into the next tier quickly.

Light

Around 1 GB / 7 days

Maps, messaging, ride-hailing and occasional email

Everyday

About 2–4 GB / 7 days

Maps, messaging, browsing, social feeds and short clips

Heavy

7 GB+ / 7 days

Frequent video, hotspot use, uploads or remote work

Rivio is pay as you go, so you can add balance again instead of predicting one exact bundle before the trip. If you are comparing payment models, read the prepaid eSIM guide.

Buying and using a travel eSIM: FAQ

How do I buy a Rivio eSIM online?

Download Rivio from the official App Store or Google Play listing, create your account, add balance and then follow the in-app eSIM installation steps. Rivio does not use a web checkout on this page.

Does a Rivio eSIM include a phone number, calls or SMS?

No. Rivio is a data-only travel eSIM and does not include a phone number, cellular calls or SMS. You can call and message through data-based apps such as WhatsApp, FaceTime and Signal.

Can I keep my regular phone number active?

Yes, on a dual-SIM phone you can keep your primary SIM active while using Rivio for mobile data. Turn off data roaming on the primary SIM to avoid unintended data charges. Calls and SMS on that line can still be subject to your home carrier roaming rates.

When should I install and activate my travel eSIM?

Add balance and install the eSIM before departure while you have reliable Wi-Fi. At your destination, select Rivio as the mobile-data line and enable data roaming for the Rivio line. Keep roaming disabled on your primary SIM unless you intentionally want to use your carrier abroad.

Does my phone need to be unlocked and eSIM-compatible?

Yes. Your phone must support eSIM and must not be locked to a carrier that blocks other SIM profiles. Check both requirements before adding balance, especially if the phone was purchased through a carrier contract.

How much travel data should I buy?

For seven days, light use may fit around 1 GB, everyday maps and social use often needs 2–4 GB, and frequent video or hotspot use can require 7 GB or more. These are planning ranges, not limits; video quality, cloud backups and hotspot use can change consumption substantially.

Can I top up, and does unused Rivio balance expire?

You can add balance again in the Rivio app whenever needed. Unused balance does not expire, so it can remain available for a later trip to another supported destination.
